Mary Grace Whalen - About Me
Mary Grace Whalen - Writer/Blogger/Educator
Hello Friends,

My name is Mary Grace. I have slowly gone deaf over the last 40 years, but I can hear with bilateral cochlear implants. I love to write, draw, teach students the joy of writing, observe nature, visit New York City and travel to faraway places.  For the past 30 years, I have been an advocate for persons hearing loss.  I have two daughters, one grandson 4 grandpuppies!

Over the last 25 or so years, I have had over 50 articles published on hearing loss and aging.  I have also written for the Hospice Foundation of America's  publication entitled Journeys. One of my articles became part of a book edited by Dr. Kenneth J. Doka,, Journeys With Grief, A Collection of Articles about Love, Life Loss.

Coming in summer 2019, my children's book The Legend of Eddie the Whale will be available on!  I am very excited about sharing this story with themes about kindness and diversity.  Later this year,  Living in the Color Magenta will be available on  This book will be a combination of stories about hearing loss,  anticipated losses, growing older and growing up Italian. With the exception of a few examples of stories from my blog, my book will contain all new material.   I hope you will find my stories both inspiring and sometimes humorous.
