Recently, I have retired from teaching college-level writing and research courses and I now have time to complete my memoir. My book will be a combination of stories about hearing loss, life, anticipated losses, growing older and growing up Italian. With the exception of a few examples of stories from my blog, my book will contain all new material. I hope you will find my stories both inspiring and sometimes humorous.
I am also writing a children's book which includes poignant examples of diversity in our everyday life. I will keep you informed on the progress of both of my books.
Over the last 25 or so years, I have had over 50 articles published. Most of these articles have been on hearing loss, but I have also written for the Hospice Foundation of America's www.hospicefoundation.org publication entitled Journeys. One of my articles became part of a book edited by Dr. Kenneth J. Doka, www.drkendoka.com, Journeys With Grief, A Collection of Articles about Love, Life and Loss. I have a special interest in hearing loss and other disabilities, aging and diverse cultures. I am a former president of the Westchester Chapter of Hearing Loss Association of America www.hearingloss.org and I am a volunteer for Cochlear Americas www.cochlear.com. I am a bilateral cochlear implant recipient with otosclerosis. Here is one of two videos posted on Youtube.com by the Cochlear Corporation. I was honored to be part of it.
